Joy Seeker - Barefoot is Best - I Believe in Magic
"Enjoy Every Sandwich" (gluten free, of course) - Warren Zevon
I had an on and off yoga practice for years and after college began to take more studio classes. As a former athlete I loved the physical challenge and did not understand the mindfulness aspect AT ALL. During my first savasana I laid in the room thinking this teacher was nuts - how could anyone JUST LAY THERE? And so begins the practice of yoga....
I spent years practicing while working in government affairs and business development. After being diagnosed with celiac disease I had developed crazy anxiety that culminated in a panic attack at the airport with my Mom followed by a 2 hour flight with my head between my legs. I realized, something needed to change. My yoga teacher had been gently pushing me to get back to my practice and I took a leap. Not soon after, my practice on the mat was helping my life off the mat. I began to take chances and live life outside of my apartment - Yay for healthy nutrition, our body's ability to heal and our mind's ability to grow!
I had been a cheerleading choreographer and camp instructor for over a decade and realized I could translate some of those skills to teaching yoga and reach a much broader demographic. I began my 200HR RYT Certification with Kelly Smith Colln through the Kansas City Yoga Teacher Training and taught my first class in January 2015. That spark of joy, fear and nausea was clear....this was my passion, this was where I belonged. I have been teaching since throughout the KC Metro area and am a forever student of this magical practice.
I love to bring joy into my classes and super fun playlists to add to the flow. Making my classes approachable to those who may not be comfortable calling themselves a yogi is my goal, along with everyone leaving feeling better than when they came in to class. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to teach and continue to share this practice.
You can find me and Rosa the Dog around town in parks, listening to live music and on patios often. I'm working on sharing more of my journey as a teacher and as a human on my blog Allergic to My Life.

Roosevelt Jean - better known as Rosa the Dog - is the official greeter of all yogis at classes and is superb at savasana.
She welcomes loving, calm energy, belly rubs and non-stop loves. Rosa was adopted from KC Pet Project in March 2013 as a shy little pup who was nervous about everything. She has grown into quite the social butterfly at yoga events and knows when to take her place on the mat for yoga time.
Come see Rosa the Dog at Doga, Flash Performance, RoKC, any outdoor classes or at your next class or event!
